Mark Gurman จาก Bloomberg ได้เผยผ่านจดหมายข่าว Power On ของเขาว่า Apple อาจจัดงานอีเว้นท์ครั้งแรกของปีในวันที่ 8 มีนาคมนี้ และภายในงานจะมีการเปิดตัว iPhone SE รุ่นใหม่ด้วยเช่นกัน ต่างจากรายงานก่อนหน้านี้ที่ระบุว่าอุปกรณ์ดังกล่าวอาจเปิดตัวอย่างเป็นทางการในช่วงเดือนเมษายนหรือพฤษภาคม
นอกจาก iPhone SE 5G รุ่นใหม่แล้ว คาดว่าภายในงานจะมีการเปิดตัว iPad Air, MacBook รุ่นเริ่มต้นพร้อมชิป M2 และ iMac ขนาด 27 นิ้วรุ่นใหม่ด้วย
ตามข่าวลือก่อนหน้านี้คาดว่า iPhone SE 5G จะยังคงดีไซน์แบบเดิมแต่สเปคดีกว่าเดิม ด้วยหน้าจอ Retina HD LCD ขนาด 4.7 นิ้ว พร้อมปุ่มโฮมที่มีเซ็นเซอร์สแกนลายนิ้วมือฝังอยู่ด้านใน และใช้ชิป A15 พร้อม RAM ขนาด 3GB ส่วนด้านหลังมีเซ็นเซอร์กล้องเดี่ยวความละเอียด 12 ล้านพิกเซลที่ได้รับการปรับปรุงคุณภาพการถ่ายภาพใหม่
