It’s finish ! After 44 long years of being harried about their inability to win in Bordeaux, the Marseillais put an end to this interminable famine in the southwest of France. A small goal from Cengiz Ünder in the first period was enough for the happiness of the Olympians, who took second place in Ligue 1 to start 2022 well.

Bordeaux 0-1 Marseille
Goal: Ünder (37 e ))
Forty-four years and three months, 16 169 days. It was the 1 er October 1977, the Girondins de Bordeaux were still playing at Parc Lescure and the Olympique de Marseille won for the last time on the banks of the Gironde. Thirty-seven confrontations later, it was therefore necessary for the Covid-19 to come and put its two cents to see the Olympians conquer the sleeping beauty again. All in a very empty Atlantic Matmut, a sad return to reality for the first Ligue 1 match of this new year. It is not Cengiz Ünder, decisive scorer after a big ball from Costil, and his friends who will come to complain.
Over Ünder
Aligned without a real center-forward as often at the start of the season, the Olympians rely on Amine Harit to be quickly dangerous, but it is not on target (6 e ). In an Atlantic Matmut behind closed doors, Sampaoli gives voice from his sidelines, his flock logically dominate the debates, and Ćaleta-Car is very close to finding the fault, but runs into the post after a deviation from Kamara on a corner (11 e ). Although its intentions were well established, Marseille fell asleep little by little, much to the dismay of its Argentinian technician. Before Cengiz Ünder wakes up at the best of times to take advantage of a big mistake in Costil’s raise, piercing the defense to start the evening of his people (0-1, 37 e ) . Completely harmless so far, Bordeaux points the tip of its nose on a breakthrough by Hwang full axis, but the Korean prefers to aim for the stars (42 e ).

Costil saves the furniture
From the resumption, the Girondins go up a notch in pressing and aggressiveness. But it is the Marseillais who are the bosses on the meadow, and it takes a nice horizontal from Costil to take the head of Ćaleta-Car on a free kick (52 e ). Three minutes later, the last rampart of the premises saw Guendouzi shoot him at close range after a great collective action, before Lirola struck far above (55 e ). Always so inspired, the goalkeeper of the France team intervenes once again in front of Ünder, who came to challenge him closely (62 e ). More and more close to losing their incredible invincibility against another giant of the South, the Bordelais appear too limited to really worry Pau Lopez, who must have been quite bored in front of the little spectacle on offer. Despite 18 attempted strikes, Marseille therefore set off again, having only shaken the nets once. Very anecdotal in view of the results, which will not fail to trigger many smiles in the days to come around the Old Port.
