Algoma Public Health reports no new hospitalizations and 29 new cases of COVID-19

Algoma Public Health is reporting no new hospitalizations with COVID-19, and 29 new cases, though that number may be an underestimation due to limits on who can be tested.

There are currently 15 people in hospital with COVID-19 in the region, and 610 active cases, which is down from 631 at the last report.

APH reports that there have been 50 resolved cases since the last report.

APH has run 334 tests with a positivity rate of 8.6 per cent.

Among the eligible population, 84.4 per cent have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
