Andrew Garfield won the Golden Globe as a comedy actor

Andrew Garfield won the Golden Globe for leading actor in a comedy / musical. He convinced in the musical film “Tick, Tick … Boom!” By director Lin-Manuel Miranda. It is the first Globe win in his career. Garfield prevailed against Leonardo DiCaprio (“Don’t Look Up”) and Peter Dinklage (“Cyrano”) at the 79th Globe Awards.

US actor Will Smith has won the Golden Globe for best drama actor. He won the award with his leading role in the sports drama “King Richard”. With Smith at the 79th Globe Awards, Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Power of the Dog”) and Denzel Washington (“Macbeth”) were in the running.

Star composer Hans Zimmer (64) has won another Golden Globe trophy. The native of Frankfurt won the prize of the Association of Foreign Press (HFPA) for his composition for the science fiction drama “Dune”. It was his 14th nomination in the category “Best Film Music”. He already has two Globes, 1995 for “The Lion King”, 2001 for “Gladiator”.

With Zimmer, four other candidates were in the running, the Briton Jonny Greenwood (“The Power of the Dog”), the Frenchman Alexandre Desplat (“French Dispatch”), the Spaniard Alberto Iglesias (“Parallel Mothers”) and the American Germaine Franco (“Encanto”).

The winners in 25 film and television categories were announced by the Association of Foreign Press (HFPA) on Monday night in Beverly Hills. The 79th Globe Awards ran without nominees and star guests, the usual TV gala was canceled. The names of the winners were announced on the organization’s social media.
