Besançon: a man kills his partner by cutting her throat

The victim, who presented nine stab wounds, died after the arrival of the police in the apartment.

A 61-year-old man killed Wednesday, December 29 in the evening at the stabbing his companion by cutting his throat, at the couple’s home in Besançon, AFP learned Thursday, December 30 from the prosecution.

It was a neighbor, worried by the sounds of an altercation, who notified the emergency services. On their arrival, the police saw a seriously injured woman on a balcony, calling for help after being beaten by her companion. The 56-year-old victim died quickly after the police arrived in the apartment. She presented nine stab wounds, including one ” very deep in the throat ”, specified the deputy prosecutor of the judicial court of Besançon who went there in the evening .

The victim’s companion turned the weapon on him, inflicting a “ deep throat wound and lesions in the thorax
”, according to the magistrate. He was transported to the CHRU Besançon, his vital prognosis being engaged. The investigation of flagrance continues in parallel. The couple, parent of a child, had “
no antecedents, he was absolutely not known to the police and judicial authorities ”, specified the deputy prosecutor. According to a report from the Ministry of the Interior, 102 men killed their spouse or ex-spouse in 2020. They were 146 in 2019.
