By 2030, Rolls-Royce's cars will be electric

The classic luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce will only produce electric cars by 2030.

– Then Rolls-Royce will no longer be in the industry to produce or sell internal combustion engine products, says Torsten Muller-Otvos, CEO of the British company, to the news agency Reuters .

Its first electric car, the “Specter”, will be launched at the end of 2023.

On Wednesday, Rolls-Royce released the news that they are phasing out internal combustion engines in their vehicles and will only manufacture electric cars in 2030.

The company’s CEO, Torsten Muller-Otvos, states that they will not nor will it manufacture any products that are connected to internal combustion engines.

The starting shot for the company’s investment will be the electric car “Specter”, which will soon begin to be tested and is planned for sale during the fourth quarter of 2023, reports Reuters.

Several other premium brands switch to electric power

With the announcement of switching to electric motors, Rolls-Royce joins others premium brands such as Volkswagen’s Bentley, which will also be fully electric by 2030, and Jaguars Landrover, which will be electric as early as 2025.

The manufacturer Daimler also aims for their Mercedes Benz cars to be electric by 2025 if market so allows, reports Reuters.
