Drawing on more than three decades of medical experience, Dr. Baum has thrived as the president and founder of Encore Health LLC since 2017. Thanks to his vast knowledge of digital health, he provides an array of consulting services related to digital therapeutics, and conducts research on new software programs designed to prevent or treat various medical conditions. Alongside his responsibilities at Encore Health, Dr. Baum simultaneously served as the chief medical officer of metaMe Health from 2018 until 2020 and as the chief medical officer of SonarMD between 2017 and 2018.
Prior to his career as a health care administrator, Dr. Baum excelled as an assistant professor at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his research on cholesterol metabolism helped clarify the relationship between cholesterol and heart disease. While finding further success as an associate professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he spearheaded the creation of the Chicago Partnership for Health Promotion, which provides food and nutritional services for underserved populations in his hometown of Chicago. From 2006 until 2017, Dr. Baum held a number of leadership positions at the Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited and contributed to the development of a popular pharmaceutical treatment for inflammatory bowel disease known as Entyvio.
Dr. Baum attributes a great deal of his success to his work ethic, as well as his scientific curiosity. His decision to pursue a career in health care was largely motivated by his profound interest in the functional mechanics of medications and pharmaceuticals. In the coming years, Dr. Baum intends to play an active role in the global transition of clinical research into remote environments.
