EE. UU. apoyará a Colombia para proteger elecciones

El presidente, Iván Duque, aseguró ayer, tras una reunión con la subsecretaria para Asuntos Políticos estadounidenses, Victoria Nuland, que Colombia y EE. UU. trabajan juntos para evitar que “actores externos” influyan en las elecciones legislativas y presidenciales de 2022.

Nuland y una delegación diplomática de la Casa Blanca participaron en el Diálogo Estratégico de Seguridad de Alto Nivel entre EE. UU. y Colombia. Tras los encuentros, Nuland, acompañada del subsecretario de Estado para Asuntos del Hemisferio Occidental, Brian A. Nichols, y el encargado de Latinoamérica y el Caribe de la Casa Blanca, Juan S. González, resaltó que Colombia es “el principal aliado” de EE. UU. en la región.

En relación con los comicios legislativos y presidenciales colombianos de este 2022, Nuland aseveró que Washington desea que Colombia tenga “una elección libre y justa”, por lo que debe salvaguardarse de “actores externos que tratan de ponerla en peligro”.

“Hablamos extensamente sobre los riesgos de los actores externos, de los regímenes autoritarios y aquellos que no les desean bien a nuestras democracias, por lo que nos hemos comprometido a fortalecer nuestra relación en diferentes campos como por ejemplo en la ciberseguridad o en el mundo de la desinformación, entre otros”, detalló la enviada de Biden.
