Everyone has a list of sensible and meaningful films they would mention when asked to mention their favourites, but in reality, we all have a couple of embarrassing movies that are guilty of loving. We watch these films every now and then but it’s almost self-destructive to admit this in public because the judgments are inevitable.
Despite faulty storyline, cringe-worthy dialogues, and bad comedy, we seem to really enjoy these movies. Here is a list of Bollywood films that are so bad, they are good and we can’t stop rewatching them:
Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani
The makers probably didn’t intend to make a comedy movie but that’s what it turned out to be. This mega multi-starrer film achieved a cult status over the years, but it is most remembered for its cringe factor. Be it Armaan Kohli’s snake act or Sonu Nigam and Suneil Shetty’s over-the-top acting and action stunts, Jaani Dushman tops our list.
Sooryavansham
We have reluctantly watched Sooryavansham every weekend and didn’t even realise when it became a part of our cringe binge every week. You can thank Set Max for that. Be it, Amitabh Bachchan, in a double role, Rekha’s mesmerising voice dubbing, or the whole desi dad drama that keeps us hooked, there is something about the movie. Also, you would be lying if you said you don’t wait for the ‘zeher wali kheer‘ scene.
Chennai Express
Despite being a big hit, this Rohit Shetty film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone is still remembered for its bizarreness. From Deepika’s weird accent to a completely illogical plotline, Chennai Express did make us question why we were watching it.
Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon
Sooraj Barjatya got a bit carried away after helming a successful hattrick — Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, and Hum Saath Saath Hain. While Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon featured some popular faces like Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, and Abhishek Bachchan, the film was a complete headache where everyone seemed high on some questionable substance. Remember the godforsaken parrot sequence and Hrithik’s unstoppable energy?
Indoo Ki Jawani
This Kiara Advani and Aditya Seal film is bizarre to another level. The storyline is unbearable but even the deliberate humour, where Advani has a ‘pun’ny take on popular brands like Dinder for Tinder or Fakebook for Facebook gets irritating soon enough. You can definitely watch the film when you have nothing better to do.
Style
If you’ve ever answered “Excuse me” with “Kya Re?” and continued to sing “Mera dil tere pe fida re,” you’ve legit made it to the club. Remember Bantu and Chantu dressing up as women and moving into the girl’s hostel to impress Sheena and Rani? Does anyone know why a fine actor like Sharman Joshi said yes to that script?
