If you’re eyeballing Framework’s modular and repairable laptops, now’s the time to take the leap. Framework just opened orders for refurbished laptops and expansion cards, which could save you hundreds on your purchase.
Every refurbished laptop offered by Framework is a customer return. Framework tests these laptops, replaces damaged components, and cleans away any dust or grime. Small cosmetic blemishes are to be expected, as with any refurbished item.
Now, to be clear, Framework is selling refurbished DIY Edition kits, which include a chassis, display, keyboard, and Intel Core CPU (11th or 12th gen). You still need to buy the memory, storage, Wi-Fi module, power adapter, Windows license, and modular expansion cards (USB-C, HDMI, etc).
The cheapest refurbished laptop offered by Framework is the 11th Gen Intel Core DIY Edition kit. It costs $600, which is $150 less than you’d normally pay for this item. But I suggest buying the refurbished 12th Gen Intel Core DIY Edition, which saves you $200.
As for refurbished expansion cards—well, Framework doesn’t sell them individually. Instead, it sells a $29 four-pack with two USB-C cards, one USB-A card, and an HDMI card. That’s $27 less than you’d pay for these components new.
