Godfather of The Last of Us Part II originally had no name

is Abby’s fight against King of the Rats

(Rat King, in the original), but the character has gone a long time without having a real name . In a post on Twitter, the game’s co-director, Kurt Margenau, stated that the villain was only called this way internally, and that the name was only made official when a Naughty Dog launched the Model Viewer, with details of each character and creature in the game:

Fun fact: we never intended to call it the Rat King. That was our internal name for it. We almost got away with not naming it at all (it’s never mentioned by any name in the game) until we had to have a label for it in the Model Viewer that was added in a patch. Rat King it is.

Then he became the King of the Rats.”In the game’s story, the creature is found by Abby in the basement of a hospital and the plot indicates that it has grown there since the beginning of the outbreak.
