Golden Globes 2022: Where to see the winning films?

This January 9, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA, for its acronym in English) released online the complete list of winners of the 79th edition of the Golden Globes 2022 , many of the films are also among the favorites for the Oscars.

The announcement was made online, with awards behind closed doors, although many films have not yet reached Mexico, some can be found in theaters or even in streaming. We tell you where to see the winners.

The power of the dog

The Power of the Dog swept three awards, in addition to being named Best Drama Film , Jane Campion won as Best Director and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Best Supporting Actor.


It should be noted that it is also one of the favorites in the shortlist of the Oscars, in categories such as Best Soundtrack.This western starring Benedict Cumberbacht, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smith-McPhee, is based on the novel of the same name written by Thomas Savage in 1967.The story takes place in Montana, in the 1920s, it is the story of Phil and George Burbank, one of them wages a cruel war against his brother’s new wife and son.You can see it on Netflix.


West Side Story

Love Without Barriers (West Side Story) also won three awards: Best Musical or Comedy Film , Best Actress, Musical or Comedy (Rachel Zegler) and Best Supporting Actress (Ariana DeBose).The film is directed by Steven Spielberg, it is the second film adaptation of a Broadway musical.The film stars Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler, is set in the 1950s and tells the story of Tony and Maria, teenagers who belong to rival gangs in New York, the Jets and the Sharks.It is not in streaming, but you can see it in theaters like Cinépolis.

Tick, Tick…Boom!

Andrew Garfield was named Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) for his participation in Tick, Tick…Boom! He stars as Jon, an aspiring playwright who is about to turn 30 and writes a major musical while working in a New York restaurant in the 1990s. With this tape it is based on a musical of the same name, by Jonathan Larson. With this film, the winner of the Pulitzer and Tony awards, Lin‑Manuel Miranda, makes his directorial debut.You can find it on Netflix.

Being the Ricardos

Nicole Kidman won as Best Actress (Drama) for Being the Ricardos where she gives life to the character of Lucille Ball, a television star.Lucille finds herself in the midst of a crisis that could end her career and marriage.You can find it on Prime Video.

Encanto

Encanto won as Best animated film , the story takes place in Colombia, where the Madrigal family lives, which lives in a house magical in the mountains.When the magic that surrounds them is in danger, Mirabel, who does not have special powers like the others, may be the only hope.It’s on Disney Plus.

King Richard

Will Smith was recognized as Best Actor (drama) for the film King Richard: A Winning Family, which tells the story of Richard Williams, a person who was instrumental in raising two of the most talented athletes of all time in the world of tennis, his unconventional methods to make them a legend are addressed.You can find it at HBO Max.

Dune

Dune was the winner in the Best Original Music category, which was commissioned by Hans Zimmer.This film is also on the shortlist of the Oscars 2022 for makeup and hair, sound and visual effects.Dune is the adaptation of a science fiction novel written by Frank Herbert in 1965, it tells the adventures of Paul Atreides, a brilliant young man who must travel to the most dangerous planet of the universe to protect the future, stars Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya.It is available on HBO Max.

No Time to Die

No Time to Die won in the category Best Original Song, it bears the same name as the film and is from Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.This is the 25th James Bond film, starring Daniel Craig.In the story, Bond leaves the secret service and is going to enjoy a quiet life in Jamaica when a friend from the CIA shows up to ask him for help, now he must rescue a scientist who has been kidnapped.You can find it on Apple TV.

Drive My Car

The Japanese Drive My Car won Best Foreign Language Film, directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi.It is the adaptation of a story by Haruki Murakami, through a three-hour story, the life of a widowed actor played by Hidetoshi Nishijima is told. Last December it was named best film of the year by the New York Film Critics Circle, this is the second time in four decades that the highest honor of New York critics goes to a non-English language film. The other was Roma by Alfonso Cuarón. Not yet available in Mexico.

Belfast

Belfast was recognized in the category Best Screenplay, was directed by Kenneth Branagh, who was also the director of the film.It is a drama set in Northern Ireland in the 1960s, in the midst of a civil war, a boy dreams of a future away from problems, in the company of his family.It is expected to hit theaters soon in Mexico.Note: This article have been indexed to our site.
