Optimization of digitization and social media is a solution for MSMEs.

REPUBLIKA.CO .ID, DEPOK — IPB University students who conducted the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN-T) in Depok, West Java taught micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to optimize digitization. In this activity, students collaborated with the Depok Creative Industry Association (AIKD). The Depok Creative Industry Association is an association that houses MSME actors in Depok City.

“MSMEs play an important role in the wheels of economic growth, but there are obstacles that limit business actors from developing their businesses. Especially after the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali,” said Eky Dwi Cahyani, an IPB University student member of the Depok KKN-T Team in a release received Republika.co.id, Friday (1/10).

According to him, optimizing digitalization and social media is a solution for MSMEs to be able to develop their business. The MSMEs assisted are the Kolang-Kaling Kembar entrepreneurs, LNAD Store and Sambal Nusantara. They are members of AIKD.

“Assistance is provided by making advertising videos on TikTok, activating Shopee accounts, product packaging recommendations and designing Instagram feeds. We also provide insight into MSME players regarding increasing engagement rates, store promotions, financial report guidelines, and analysis of the business model canvas (BMC). All of these activities are carried out online and offline,” he added.

He hopes this assistance can be the first step to increase sales and welfare of MSME owners affected by the pandemic in Depok City.

Isnawati, the owner of the Kolang-Kaling Twin MSME, was satisfied with this assistance of IPB University students . “Hopefully in the future we can give appreciation to students because we have felt a change in the way we market our products, especially on social media,” he said.
