Pljevlja Coal Mine has started a project of planting medicinal plants on recultivated areas, and the Pljevlja company expects that if everything goes according to plan, in the next period medicinal plants will be planted on the surface of one hundred hectares.

From Rudnik they announced that the planting of five species of medicinal plants is taking place for the second day in a row (Thyme, Sage, Miloduh and two species of Lavender) on a plot of four hectares near the Separation – in the landfill of the former Cementare site.

In the meantime, laboratory tests of the land at the Institute of Mining and metallurgy Bor, whose results affirmed the decision of the management of the Coal Mine to start the implementation of this project, while soil samples were sent to the competent institute in Kruševac.

The Executive Director of the Coal Mine, Milan Lekić, said that after this trial autumn planting, a decision should be made whether will enter the business of planting medicinal plants on areas of about 100 hectares.

“If it turns out that Pljevlja is a suitable environment for this work, and on this has been indicated by certain climate and soil tests, all preconditions will be created for entering a wider business momentum, which will result in the opening of distilleries for the production of essential oils. We have the will for this job, we have the capacities, as well as adequate areas such as Jagnjilo with about 40 hectares, Kota 810 with an area of ​​about 30 hectares and the internal landfill Kutlovača which has about 20 hectares. I use this opportunity to express my hope and belief that the Ministry of Finance, which owns the land on Kota 810, will give the land to the Coal Mine for these purposes, because the benefit is mutual, “said Lekić.

He said that about twenty workers were hired for the planting, saying that if everything went according to plan, in the near future, several hundred workers would be employed in these jobs, which, as he pointed out, would open up in Pljevlja, much-needed new jobs.

“We have implemented here the knowledge and experience of a prestigious factory for the production of medicinal herbs from Ljubinje. There I had the opportunity to get acquainted with a successful business story that involves the production, purchase and processing of medicinal, spice and aromatic herbs, which we will try to implement in Pljevlja, “said Lekic and said that the Coal Mine, in accordance with the Mining Act , in the obligation to recultivate the land and that, “it is far better to plant the land with medicinal plants than with clover.”

Works on planting medicinal plants Representatives of the Ministry of Capital Investments (MKI) – State Secretary for Energy and Mining Marko Perunović and Director General of the Directorate for Energy and Energy Efficiency Vladimir Durutović also visited today.

This is the second visit of the two of them to the Coal Mine, and with the Executive Director Milan Lekić and the President of the Board of Directors Dušan Janjušević, they negotiated the realization of the investment for the construction of the Cement Plant.

On this occasion, the representatives of MKI expressed great opti mizam regarding this, as they pointed out, investment of vital importance for the life of Pljevlja and all Pljevlja citizens, because it is a factory that is planned to provide new jobs and strengthen the economic strength of Pljevlja, but also the whole country.

They said that the position of the Coal Mine, when it comes to the realization of this investment, is of vital importance and one of the most important, pointing out at the same time the readiness of the relevant ministry to this company

Perunović and Durutović pointed out that the basic idea is that in Pljevlja, in the medium term, the investments that will be realized in in accordance with all environmental standards, especially taking into account the postulates of “fair transition”. In this regard, they expressed satisfaction and supported the idea of ​​growing medicinal plants, but also all projects that promote the ecological revitalization of Pljevlja, of which they emphasized the need for tourist valorization of Ljubišnja.

On the other hand, Lekić and Janjušević on several occasions welcomed the decision of the Government of Montenegro on the construction of the Cement and expressed, on behalf of the Coal Mine, the absolute readiness to approach the realization of this capital investment extremely professionally, engaging maximum capacity .
