Lenovo Yoga AIO 7 Review

AIO. From pubs to the boardroom, you’re likely to hear this gadget term more frequently. The pandemic changed the way we work and even as we’ve moved to hybrid models, the home office changed forever. My pre-pandemic work schedules involved a lot more travel; the MacBook was all I needed to get stuff done. The M1 iMac is now my primary workhorse at a time when virtual meetings are still part of my work mix and a large screen offers more flexibility for split-screen workflows. Lenovo’s AIO (All-in-one) desktop is playing in the same field with a large 27-inch touchscreen that wears the Yoga tag for a good reason.

Showstopper

You’ll be tempted to move your work desk to your living room. It’s one way to show off this gorgeous device that’s got premium written all over it. It’s sturdy and finished with refined materials. The display is the star. It lives up to the ‘Yoga’ suffix; it rotates so you can flip it to portrait mode if you’re editing an image or artwork or to catch up on some Insta reels when you need a break on a Manic Monday. The 27-inch UHD display (3840 x 2160 pixels) peaks at 360 nits and delivers vibrant colours. The built-in speaker (2 x 5W) is good but not exceptional. It rests on a stand that gives it extra flexibility and multiple viewing angles. I enjoyed the touch screen and I will miss this when I go back to the iMac.

Fully loaded

Lenovo sent us the variant with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor with a AMD Radeon RX 6600M 8GB GDDR6 graphics card. It’s complemented by 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. That’s clearly enough firepower for anything you might throw at this machine including complex video editing. It didn’t flinch whether we gamed or had multiple windows open. Lenovo hits the right notes with the hardware. We wish Lenovo brought their A game with the bundled keyboard and mouse that don’t quite do justice to the stellar hardware and the overall experience. There’s a whole bunch of ports that are conveniently placed that should address most of your connectivity needs

A great advert for an AIO

More AIOs and displays are coming. The home office is here to stay and 12-inch laptops don’t quite cut it anymore. The Yoga AIO 7 is clearly pitched at the home office segment and will also make a great conversation starter for those corner offices with a view for senior executives who may not multi-task as much as their subordinates. It’s easy to recommend this for creative professionals and for WFH warriors whose screen time hasn’t quite reduced even in a post-pandemic world. It has the firepower, a flexible display that’s also ready for play mode. But most of all it creates a slew of new experiences and screen interactions that should keep you engaged for a while.
