Logistics platform Alaiko collects 26 million euros – an investor is surprised
The startup Alaiko receives millions in financing , including the busy investor Tiger Global. He uses it to finance a competitor from his own portfolio.

The e-commerce industry is booming. One of the biggest beneficiaries? Fulfillment platforms that take care of the logistics of the online shops and are currently collecting a lot of venture capital for this. The latest example is the Munich startup Alaiko, which has now announced funding of the equivalent of around 26 million euros (30 million US dollars). The Series A funding round is led by US venture capitalist Next47. Investment giant Tiger Global is also among the lead investors. This is particularly piquant since the Amazon and Spotify investor is also invested in the Berlin shipping company Hive – a direct competitor of Alaiko. Here, Tiger Global led a 29 million euros last November heavy Series A.
Other donors at Alaiko include Maximilian Bittner, CEO of Vestiaire Collective and former head of Lazada, and investors Dan Dershem and Dave Anderson, who are already invested in US Alaiko counterpart Shipmonk.

The need for business models like Alaiko’s is big: Online sellers need shipping systems to optimize many processes, such as inventory management, warehouse optimization and the automation of deliveries.
