Mais uma igreja cristã pode ser fechada na Argélia

O governador provincial abriu um processo no dia 2 de fevereiro contra o pastor da igreja e o pai dele (proprietário do terreno onde está localizada a igreja). O caso é baseado em um decreto de 2006 que regulamenta o culto não-muçulmano. Ainda não há data para que a Justiça avalie o caso.

Nos últimos anos, várias igrejas foram fechadas sob esta portaria, que exige que o culto não- muçulmano seja realizado apenas em prédios licenciados para esse fim. Porém, a comissão de licenciamento criada sob portaria de 2006 ainda não emitiu uma única licença.

A igreja foi fundada em 2006 e aderiu à EPA (Église Protestante d’Algérie), um grupo legalmente reconhecido de igrejas protestantes na Argélia, em 2011. Tem mais de 90 membros.

O governo empreendeu uma campanha sistemática contra as igrejas protestantes desde novembro de 2017, lacrando 16 prédios da igreja e ordenando pelo menos quatro outras comunidades cristãs a encerrar suas atividades.

A Argélia é o 22º país da Lista Mundial da Perseguição 2022, que classifica os países em que os cristãos são mais perseguidos no mundo. Durante o último ano, diversos cristãos foram condenados e presos sob acusações de blasfêmia e proselitismo. Autoridades da Argélia se envolveram em uma campanha sistemática contra as igrejas da Igreja Protestante da Argélia.
