New Wreck Sunk In The Waters Off Belize

A new wreck diving site has been established in the waters off Belize.

The Witconcrete was sunk at Blackbird Caye, in the Turneffe Atoll Marine Reserve. The ship was one of the largest ever deployed to the Caribbean, coming in at an impressive 375ft/114m. The Witconcrete was built between 1942 and 1944, and during its career, she operated as a bulk sugar transporter.

The project to sink the new wreck is a joint enterprise between the Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association (TASA) and Blackbird Caye Resort and Blue Finance.

Commenting on the new wreck, Blackbird Caye Resort Director Michaela Simonyan said:

“The Wit is already an amazing dive wreck. We were able to preserve 35 years of coral growth on the keel of the ship that moved with the ship to Blackbird Caye on the Turneffe Atoll.”

You can check out a short clip of the sinking below.

Gravitational waves could demonstrate that black holes do not exist but are balls of strings

Depuis…
