Nvidia can solve the problems of autonomous robots, vehicles and logistics

NVIDIA’s Autonomous Mobile Robotics (AMR) platform can solve companies’ logistics problems, especially with regard to product movement in factories and warehouses.

It also promotes the development of autonomous vehicles, including in the truck industry, which is struggling with driver shortages. This problem will only get worse unless you can either replace the drivers with robots or make the work itself more attractive. The chipmaker’s efforts are capable of both – wrote Datamation. In the first months of the pandemic, factories shut down and were unable to source parts. This problem has spread to distribution, which has been exacerbated initially by a lack of long-distance truck drivers, which has been exacerbated by the weather, a lack of dock workers and then a lack of storage facilities and warehouse staff. As the pandemic continued, it caused problems locally in all three environments, as positive tests forced workers to leave factories, warehouses and other areas where they would otherwise have been close to uninfected workers. Robotics enhanced with artificial intelligence, which is also used in autonomous heavy-duty vehicles such as semi-trailers, forklifts and agricultural equipment, is not negatively affected by either labor shortages or the impact of a pandemic. Thus, they are an ideal solution where labor is limited. NVIDIA’s AMR and stand-alone vehicle solutions are unique in that they are linked to the company’s Omniverse metaversion toolkit, which enables extensive virtual simulation and testing. The AMR solution is expanding and is being used in manufacturing by companies such as BMW, where simulations are being developed using Nvidia Omniverse and Isaac Sim to keep the resulting digital twins in sync for better real-time control, and related future developments. Designed for autonomous cars and trucks, the Nvidia Drive platform is experimenting with solutions to address long-term driver shortages. It is a callable platform designed to work 24 hours a day, without sleep, break or sick leave. Combining technologies can create a highly automated production and distribution solution that can withstand events such as the current pandemic and provide a robust solution to current supply chain shortfalls .
