The government wants to present the tax reform soon
APA / ROBERT JAEGER
The tax reform may be presented in the coming days. Then there would be enough time to incorporate the details into the new budget – on October 13, Finance Minister Gernot Blümel (ÖVP) will give his budget speech in the National Council Negotiators continue not to look into the cards. The core of the tax reform is CO2 pricing. The daily newspaper “Österreich” reported on Friday about a CO2 price of 35 euros per ton, an end for the diesel privilege and a “climate bonus” for everyone desired by the Greens. Above all, the ÖVP has always pushed the lowering of the second and third tariff level of wage and income tax from 35 to 30 percent and from 42 to 40 percent, the latter could only follow later, as well as an increase in the family bonus.
ÖVP and Greens did not want to comment on any content to the APA on Friday, as there is still no negotiation result. Both sides only said that they were in “intensive negotiations”. It is clear, however, that the talks are in the last few meters – in addition to chief negotiators, Finance Minister Blümel and Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens), the Chancellery is now also intensively involved.
