Weightless intimacy, although a mirage, is currently inevitable given the prospect of settling in Earth orbit, building colonies on the moon and planned flights to Mars. This is what a team of Canadian researchers from Concordia and Laval Universities is already working on.

Their findings were recently published in the Journal of Sex Research.

The team is led by Doctor of Psychology Simone Dubet from Concordia University, who calls for the topic of “space sexology” to be included in scientific space programs.

The absence of gravity makes sex more physically complex and uncomfortable, which is a problem in an environment where cleanliness is the most important element. Satisfaction of sexual needs can really be a difficult task.

If you think in perspective, then in small colonies with a limited number of intimate partners, stressful situations, conflicts and even The farther away from Earth and the longer the people in Cosmo In the future, these problems are more likely to occur, according to Dr Dubet and his colleagues.

Canadian scientists have already identified several potential topics for work.

First, the creation of systems and spaces that will allow intimate relationships to be safe, hygienic and in a cozy environment. This also includes the preliminary planning of births in space, as well as the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases.

Second, the creation of training programs to prepare space travelers to intimate life, sexual activity and all possible social problems that may arise. And third, to develop sexual technologies such as players or robots to ensure pure and satisfying sex.

Intimate relationships and sexuality will help make life in space more enjoyable and not so lonely, the researchers are adamant. Sexual activity, among other things, relieves stress, lowers blood pressure and helps sleep.

Which will be extremely important when traveling to more distant planets or staying in the moon colonies. Intimate relationships and sexuality in space can improve the lives of astronauts and future space dwellers to adapt to the space environment and normalize their lives, according to Dr. Dubet’s team.
