Over 50 motorists in Johor issued summonses for queue cutting, ignoring traffic lights

KOTA TINGGI: A total of 53 summonses amounting to almost RM16,000 have been issued by the police to motorists for cutting queues and running through red lights at Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said that the summonses were issued by the Kota Tinggi traffic investigation and enforcement department on Sunday (Jan 23) under “Ops Potong Q dan Lampu Merah”.

“We set up a roadblock at Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang near RHD restaurant and at Jalan Tun Sri Lanang, here.

“Our target is those who disobey road safety regulations by running through red traffic lights and selfish drivers who turn a blind eye to other road users’ safety, especially during peak hours,” he said in a statement here.

He added that reckless actions disrupt traffic flow and can lead to accidents.

“The enforcement is conducted not only to take action but to increase awareness of road users that selfish acts can result in unfortunate consequences.

“We also issued another 22 summonses totalling RM3,300 for other offences like not wearing seat belts, driving with an expired road tax, among others,” he said.

Supt Hussin added that the operation would be conducted from time to time to remind the public to always obey road laws and to be responsible road users.
