S’Kaduna In Diaspora Celebrates Establishment Of Federal University Kachia

The Southern Kaduna People in the Diaspora in Europe have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State.

In a statement signed by the President of SOKAPDAE, Mr Casimir P. Biriyok, and the Secretary, Dr Janet Nale, respectively and issued to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday, the group described the establishment of the university as a “historic achievement” and a “long-awaited victory” for the people of Southern Kaduna.

According to SOKAPDAE, the establishment of the university is a clear indication that the federal government is committed to addressing the historical marginalisation of Southern Kaduna in the allocation of federal institutions.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Senator Uba Sani—Governor of Kaduna State; Senator Sunday Marshall Katung; Senator Danjuma Laah; and the entire people of Southern Kaduna on the official establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.

“For many years, Southern Kaduna has been marginalised in the allocation of federal institutions, despite its immense potential and contributions to national development. The establishment of this university is a long-awaited victory and a clear indication that our perseverance and advocacy for inclusion have yielded results,” the group said.

SOKAPDAE also commended the Vice President, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, Senator Uba Sani, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, Senator Danjuma Laah, Bishop Mathew Kukah, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Man-oso Ndagoso, Gen. Christopher Musa, Rev John Joseph Hayab, Engr Andrew Yakubu, Dr Abdulamalik Durunguwa, members of both houses of the National Assembly and the leadership of both chambers, among others, for their instrumental roles in making the establishment of the university a reality.

The group described the university as a “game-changer” for Southern Kaduna and the broader Kaduna State, noting that it would provide quality education in science, technology, engineering, and other applied disciplines, producing graduates who can compete globally.

“The university’s focus on applied sciences will play a crucial role in equipping students with practical, hands-on skills that will drive technological advancement and industrial growth. This university will provide quality education in science, technology, engineering, and other applied disciplines, producing graduates who can compete globally,” the group said.

SOKAPDAE also noted that the university would stimulate economic growth in the region, create employment opportunities, and foster cultural exchange and diversity.

“With the establishment of this university, numerous employment opportunities will be created, ranging from academic positions to administrative and technical roles. More importantly, the university will equip students with practical skills that make them employable and self-reliant, reducing unemployment rates and contributing to national productivity,” the group said.

The group called on the federal government, Kaduna State government, and relevant authorities to ensure that the university receives adequate funding, infrastructure, and resources to operate effectively.

SOKAPDAE also urged the private sector and philanthropic organisations to invest in the university through scholarships, endowments, and research grants.
