Two American travelers and a Swiss tourist were killed in a collision between a minibus and a truck in the province of Puntarenas in western Costa Rica. The Foreign Ministry confirmed the death of the Swiss citizen.
A local representative was in contact with the local authorities, it said at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency on Saturday. For privacy protection reasons, however, no further information could be given.
Three tourists killed
According to international agency information, the minibus, whose Costa Rican driver was also killed, was on the way to the tourist region of Guanacaste on the Pacific coast. According to the police, the vehicle collided with the truck while overtaking and fell into a ditch.
The two Americans and the Swiss were killed on the spot. Three other tourists, whose nationality was not specified, were in critical condition in a hospital in Puntarenas.
