The Ministry of Transport, under the leadership of Nikolay Sabev, will pursue a policy of eliminating all unnecessary documents on paper, including all kinds of car stickers – and eco-stickers, respectively. The request was made by Sabev himself from the rostrum of the National Assembly. He answered a question from a Member of Parliament about the effectiveness of eco-stickers and the various systems that will have to be monitored.
The system established in our country, which checks and guarantees that the vehicle meets a certain category and standard, includes the registration certificate and the sign for checking the technical condition of the vehicle
He added that according to the amendments to the Ordinance, which regulates eco-stickers, serious investments have already been made by the points for annual technical reviews. That is why in the next 2 weeks together with the Minister of e-Government Bozhidar Bojanov they will look for a way how these investments can be used in the most efficient way.
There are two ways – use of other already built systems with similar capacity or improvement of the system established by the Ordinance “, explained the Minister.
He stated that there should be no parallel systems, but a unified one.
The MP Martin Dimitrov suggested that the eco-stickers be completely dropped and that all information about the cars be related only to the registration number. He stated that the changes in the Ordinance can be made only by an act of the Minister.
“Let the control cameras be one, let the control of the technical inspections be tightened,” Dimitrov suggested.
Investments have already been made by the Sofia Municipality and the checkpoints. We can’t just tell them we won’t use anything. We will consider how to reuse these investments in order to achieve public benefit and no conflict of interest, “said Sabev.
We remind you that with the eco-stickers of cars Sofia Municipality had to to fight the dirty air in the city. The cars are divided into 5 categories, and those of the lowest (1st and 2nd) on certain days when there are exceeded levels of fine dust particles will not be able to enter the center of the capital. As of January 1, Sofia Municipality can now impose such restrictions.
In fact, there were two control options – through the already built over 180 cameras in the city or municipality to capture readers, who should read the new stickers. In an interview with economic.bg the chairman of the transport commission at SOS Zafir Zarkov commented that the necessary investment for the second option is in the range of BGN 30-50 thousand. to equip all intersections falling within the scope of the zones.
The Director of the Executive Agency “Automotive Administration” Boyko Ranovski said in an interview with the media that eco-stickers actually fight the problems with fictitious technical inspections. Thanks to them, the control in the checkpoints has been increased.
We remind you that the Anti-Corruption Commission has declared itself against eco-stickers . The reasons were related to a further increase in the costs of citizens and businesses, as well as inappropriate spending of public resources.
