The Xbox boss warns of console shortages well into 2022

No improvement in the near future.

Ole Henrik JohansenThe boss of the Xbox, Phil Spencer, confirms in an interview with The Wrap that there will most likely be a shortage of the company’s new Xbox Series X and Series S well into 2022. It is almost a year since the company launched the two newest machines, and until now there has been a very limited number of units that have come up for sale. And now it turns out that the drought will probably continue for several more months.

There is a screaming need for so-called semiconductors (microchips) in the world. And it probably did not help that one of the largest factories in Taiwan of these components, had to shut down production earlier this year due to a covid outbreak. Many manufacturers have noticed the shortcoming, including those who want a new Audi Q4 e-tron, must wait a long time . But also everyone who wants a new console has to be patient. It was complete chaos when the pre-sale opened for the rival PlayStation 5 , while Microsoft itself already right after launch could confirm that its consoles would be
Sold out until at least the spring of 2021
. But Spencer still points out that the lack of microchips is not all to blame. Delivery problems are a bit more complex than that. Also readNow your Xbox controller should get better

Spencer further says that the worst thing about the company struggling to produce enough consoles is all the users they disappoint. – People really want this new generation of the console, and they are very good, both from us and other platforms. So we have to work hard to get these out in the stores. In other words, the shortage of microchips will probably be felt well into 2022. These are used in almost everything that is powered by electricity, be it consoles or cars. (Kilde: The Wrap)
