Episode 8 of Vermeil In Gold is titled “Selection. It begins with Elena repeating her question about whether Alto will join the executive committee of the student council or not.
Alto accepts Elena’s offer despite being dubious of her intentions, making Lilia, Marx, and Cheryl happy. Later, Vermeil cautions him that she thinks Elena is not a human. Elena might have taken his head off if he had rejected her offer.
When they arrived at the council to attend a council meeting, they found Elena, Chris, and Jessica changing clothes. Elena and Chris merely say that it was their fault for not locking the door as Jessica panics.
Elena displays a fragment of the beast she fought. Inspecting it, they discover a form of magic they have never seen before.
Meanwhile, Kohakumiya, the creature’s master, is introduced to Lolite and Heliodor.
When Heliodor questions Lolite about how he was able to convince the strongest divine magic user from the plantium, he infuriates her by admitting he killed someone while trying to recruit them. After that, he and Heliodor depart in search of Alto and Vermeil.
In his dream, Alto sees a young Vermeil crying in a burned-out city. A woman then tells him to decide whether to save humanity by saving Vermeil or to destroy humanity by saving humanity.
