The Housing Authority is building public housing on the neighboring Jiahui Man Road, of which about 860 public housing units will be built in the first phase of the project. And about 340 subsidized-for-sale units can be relocated to all households in Xihuan Village. It is expected that the first phase of the project will be completed between 2029 and 30, when the reconstruction of Xihuan Village can be started.
Relocate residents of Ma Tau Wai Village as soon as 2027
As for Ma Tau Wai Village, it will involve There are more than 2,000 households, and government sources said that the authorities plan to build public housing on a plot of To Kwa Wan Road adjacent to the Association for the Blind. It is expected to be completed between 2027 and 28, providing about 600 units. Ma Tau Wai Village will be rebuilt in phases. The first batch of households will be relocated to public housing estates on To Kwa Wan Road. After rebuilding the units on the original site, the existing households will be relocated in batches. There is no specific timetable for completion.
The Public Housing Association stated that it supports the government’s invitation to the Housing Authority to study the reconstruction of old villages, and hopes to continue the redevelopment of other old villages in an orderly manner.
