Altogether, Cuiabá has 144 general-purpose ICUs, which are distributed for care in the General Hospital, Cancer Hospital, Santa Helena Hospital, Júlio Muller University Hospital and HMC.
Some of these units also serve specialties, such as coronary care, cancer patients, pediatrics and neonatal care.
In a note released this Wednesday (19), SMS highlighted that the scenario of bed exhaustion is named by the medical literature as a “syndemic”.

Part of these beds are dedicated to some specialties, such as coronary care, cancer, pediatrics and neonatal. It is also worth noting that the HMC is a reference for neurology and orthopedics.
This Wednesday (19), all beds are occupied, a reflection of what the literature calls of “syndemic”, that is, they reflect the scenario of increased demand not only from covid-19, but also from other pathologies, which, due to restrictions in health care, adopts as a way to avoid contagion by the coronavirus or who stopped seeking the service for fear of contamination, had their health conditions worsened, putting pressure on the health system.
