Zeiss and Siemens Energy plan cooperation on 3D printing processes

The Siemens Energy and Zeiss groups want to set up a joint company for the production of parts using the 3D printing process.

This is an alliance between the IQR division (Industrial Quality and Research) of the optics group Zeiss based in Oberkochen and the Munich group Siemens Energy, as reported by “Welt am Sonntag”. A Zeiss spokesman confirmed the plans on request. As can be seen from a notification of the project to the Federal Cartel Office on December 23, 2021, the two companies want to work together on the so-called additive manufacturing of metal and plastic parts. This process is intended to be used to produce prototypes, tools and production parts. According to the information, a platform for the production of parts using the 3D printing process is also to be created. While the Zeiss share lost 6.31 percent via XETRA to EUR 159.50, the Siemens Energy share lost 2.39 percent to EUR 22.05. /ses/DP/zbMUNICH/OBERKOCHEN (dpa-AFX)
