เมื่อเย็นวันที่ 20 ม.ค.65 ผู้สื่อข่าวรายงานว่า ได้เกิดลมพัดกระโชกแรง และมีลูกเห็บตกบริเวณเขตบ้านหนองลาว-บ้านห้วยแก้ว อ.ภูกามยาว จ.พะเยา ส่งผลให้เกิดหมอกปกคลุมทั่วบริเวณ และต่มพื้นดินก็มีลูกเห็บเต็มพื้น ลักษณะสีขาวเหมือนหิมะ เบื้องต้นพบมีเสาไฟฟ้าริมถนนสายพะเยา-ป่าแดด ช่วงบ้านหนองลาว-บ้านห้วยแก้ว ต.ห้วยแก้ว อ.ภูกามยาว จ.พะเยา หักโค่นประมาณ 30 ต้น ส่งผลให้กระแสไฟฟ้าดับทั่วทั้งอำเภอภูกามยาว
นายพิตตินันท์ อินยม 25 ปี เผยว่า ตนกำลังเดินทางกลับจากทำธุระที่ตัวจังหวัดพะเยา และได้ขับขี่รถมุ่งหน้ากลับบ้านที่ อ.ปง แต่เมื่อเดินทางมาถึงบริเวณ อ.ภูกามยาว ก็พบว่ามีหมอกลอยหนาตามรายทางหลายจุด และตามข้างทางก็มีวัตถุสีขาวอยู่เต็มไปหมด คาดว่าจะมีพายุลูกเห็บพัดผ่านไปก่อนหน้าที่ตนจะเดินทางมาถึง จึงจอดรถและถ่ายภาพและคลิปเก็บไว้ เพราะยังไม่เคยเจอลูกเห็บที่ตกมากอย่างนี้มาก่อน คาดว่าน่าจะมีพื้นที่ที่ได้รับผลกระทบเป็นวงกว้าง
พายุลูกเห็บดังกล่าว นอกจากจะทำให้เสาไฟฟ้าหักโค่นร่วม 30 ต้นแล้ว คาดว่ายังมีพืชผลการเกษตรของชาวบ้านที่ได้รับความเสียหายจากพายุดังกล่าวเป็นจำนวนมากซึ่งเหตุการณ์ไม่คาดฝันครั้งนี้ทำให้ผู้ขับขี่ยวดยานพาหนะที่วิ่งมาตามถนนสายพะเยา- ป่าแดด บริเวณบ้านหนองลาวบ้านห้วยแก้ว ต.ห้วยแก้ว อ.ภูกามยาว จ.พะเยา ต้องจอดรถติดยาวเหยียด เพื่อหลบลูกเห็บและจอดดูลูกเห็บตก ปกคลุมกระจายไปทั่วทั้งบนถนนและสองข้างทาง ด้านฝ่ายปกครอง อ.ภูกามยาว อบต.ห้วยแก้ว กำนันและผู้ใหญ่บ้าน กำลังเร่งทำการสำรวจความเสียหาย และดำเนินการช่วยเหลือบรรเทาทุกข์ผู้ที่ได้รับผลกระทบจากเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวอย่างเร่งด่วน
