The Idle Lands Program revealed that SAR 2 billion worth of fee revenues were spent to develop infrastructure projects and deliver services to more than 80 housing projects in various cities across the Kingdom, since the launch of the program until the end of 2021.

This comes as part of its role to increase the supply of developed lands for housing, as well as achieve market balance and protect fair competition, with the aim of increasing the proportion of housing ownership for Saudi households to 70% by 2030, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The fees contributed to enabling more than 185,000 Saudi households, since the launch of the program, to obtain their appropriate housing choices, including lands and housing units in a number of cities and regions across the Kingdom.

The program issued more than 8,000 fee bills for idle lands since its launch until the end of 2021, bringing the total registered areas to more than 500 million square meters (sqm), distributed among the main cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah and Dammam.

The total land areas developed by their owners, those under development, and land areas that entered the real estate supply market amounted to 102 million sqm, while the areas discovered by the program exceeded 155 million sqm. This is aimed to achieve the objectives of the program to provide residential lands developed within the urban scope specified for cities.
