最新消息，據國外媒體 MacRumors 報導，Apple 正大力研發 Mac mini 的高級版本，這進一步說明，Apple 已經決定將自家的產品線全部向著 Apple Silicon 過度。據稱，新款 Mac mini 將採用 Apple 現在最強的 M1 Pro 和 M1 Max 晶片，用來替代現有 M1 版本的 Mac mini，能夠帶來更為強勁的性能表現。值得一提 M1 Pro 是 Apple 推出的第一款為 Mac 設計的專業晶片，Apple 公司於2021年10月19日在 Apple 新品發布會正式發布。
M1 Pro 晶片採用了重新設計的晶片構造，讓 SoC 架構得以拓展，同時將 RAM 頻寬加倍，最高可達 200GB/s，幾乎是 M1 的 3倍，同時其定制模塊能支援最高 32GB RAM。 M1 Max 和 M1 Pro 採用10核CPU，具有 8個高功率核心和 2個高效核心，是目前頂級的桌面級處理器。在同 8核 PC 筆記型電腦處理器相比，M1 Pro 在同等功耗水平下的處理器性能更可高達1.7倍，達到其峰值水平性能的功耗則少了70%。
在 GPU 性能方面上， M1 Pro 採用 5nm 製程工藝，封裝了337億個晶體管，並且 M1 Pro 處理器擁有16核GPU，而 M1 Max 的 GPU 為32核，同時還提供24核的版本可選。如果 Apple 繼續保持不同裝備之間的差異性，那麼新款 Mac mini 採用殘血版 M1 Pro 的可能性更大。
RAM 方面， M1 Pro 最高可支援 32GB RAM，以及 200GB/s 的 RAM 頻寬。 M1 Max 最高支援 64GB RAM，而目前在售 M1 版本的 Mac mini RAM 限制為 16GB。該媒體還提供了一些由網友製作的渲染圖，新款 Mac mini 頂部為類似有機玻璃的物料，位於鋁製外殼上方，整體尺寸要比當前的 Mac mini 更小。外觀可能可能會採用雙色設計，類似近期發布的 24吋的 iMac，並且會有深空灰色或銀色以外的顏色可選，至於後續是否還有其他顏色，尚未得到確認。
新款 Mac mini 預計會配備了4個 Thunderbolt 接口、2個 USB-A 接口、1個以太網接口和1個 HDMI 接口，以及 Magsafe 電源充電線。
