007 Easter Eggs: With these scenes, “No Time to Die” pays tribute to the Bond saga

“No time to die” marks a turning point in the James Bond – film series. Not only is it the last 007 chapter with Daniel Craig in the lead role; With the film, the cult figure also completes its transformation into a contemporary action hero, which for us is the perfect occasion to look back and pay tribute to the scenes, dialogues, characters, songs and yes, lifestyle products that the secret agents have brought up accompanied his path.

Homage to earlier Bond films

Even when Craig first appeared as 007 in “Casino Royale” in 2006, intertextuality was a top priority: In one of the most memorable scenes of the film, the new James Bond emerges from a bath in the sea and struts out of the water, like once Ursula Andress in “Dr. No ”and later Halle Berry in“ Die Another Day ”. And it’s by no means the only example of references to previous Bond films that the Craig era brought to us -“ Did you expect an exploding pen? The opening sequence

Every ending is a new beginning. But before Daniel Craig that Zepter passed on to the next Bond actor, his last film mission pays homage to the beginnings of the film series: Even the title sequence is graphically reminiscent of the very first James Bond film “James Bond is chasing Dr. No” from 1962. In “None Time to die ”are the dots that flow into the picture in red and turn out to be platelets in the course of the sequence – based on the tailor-made virus that becomes the greatest threat in the film as a bioweapon. We also meet Bond, who gave up his double-zero status at the end of “Specter”, in the first third of the film in Jamaica – just like Sean Connery’s Bond back then. And not only that: The dramatic finale of the film also plays out like in “Dr. No ”on a remote island. “We have all the time in the world”

A promise that casts its shadow ahead – and not just in “None Time to Die ”: In“ On Her Majesty’s Secret Service ”Timothy Dalton made this promise to his wife Tracy (Diana Rigg) as 007, accompanied by Louis Armstrong’s soulful song“ We Have All the Time in the World ”. A little later, however, she had to The fact that Craigs Bond made the same promise to his Madeleine (Léa Seydoux) in the 25th Bond film does not bode well. And so much can be revealed: Armstrong’s song can be heard in the credits of “No Time to Die”.

The Cuban cigar

The Jamaican rum

007s standard Drink may be the vodka martini – shaken, not stirred – but the more interesting spirit that Bond takes in “No Time to Die” is in his house bar in Jamaica: a bottle of Blackwell rum. Its maker, Chris Blackwell, was one of the location scouts for “Dr. No ”and is also the owner of Ian Fleming’s house in Jamaica, where the author wrote all of the Bond novels.

The brother of the Ghost

A figure who Daniel Craig has accompanied 007 through several films on his way, his American opponent is Felix Leiter, played by Jeffrey Wright in “No Time to Die”. The paths of the two men cross again in the 25th Bond, albeit with a tragic end: Leiter is shot in the stomach by his protégé (who actually works for the terrorist Safin) and succumbs to his injuries. When Bond later confronts the wounded murderer, the latter asks him: “Help me, brother”. Bond’s retort, “I had a brother, his name was Felix Leiter”, is a reference to the first encounter between the two spies in “Casino Royale”; at that time, the CIA agent Leiter introduced himself as “a brother from Langley” (the headquarters of the CIA).
