IDK about you, but I have a slight obsession with restaurants that present their dishes in ridiculous, over-the-top ways to seem *cool* and ~different~. Here are some of my recent faves, courtesy of r/WeWantPlates:
1.
“Pizza staircase.”
2.
“Fries or bread in a clog is almost excusable, but ice cream?”
3.
“We ordered a salad…”
4.
“Scrambled egg in an eggshell, on a straw hat, on ice, on a slate!”
5.
“Black skin fried chicken served on driftwood.”
6.
“Yes, I asked, it’s a real bone.”
7.
“Left a trail all the way from the counter to the table.”
8.
“Ordered the ‘Feedbag Shovel’ and got this abomination…”
9.
“Why is this a thing?”
10.
“[Hummus] fresh from the garden.”
11.
“Soba noodles in [an] ice block.”
12.
“A glazed doughnut grilled cheese on a banana hanger (hanging over tomato soup).”
13.
“Wife got plate, but upside down.”
14.
“French restaurant served my [girlfriend] food on a rock.”
15.
“The classic. Straight up shovel (but it was good).”
16.
“I wanted a plate, not a whole tree.”
17.
“Fried asparagus.”
18.
And finally, “Matcha tea chocolate crisp on wire trees and in a squirrel’s mouth.”
What was your favorite (or least favorite) plate-less dish? Tell me in the comments!
