In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the Federal Office of Public Health on Wednesday within 24 hours 32,881 new coronavirus infections have been reported.
At the same time, the BAG registered 36 new deaths and 249 hospital admissions.
On the same day a week ago, the FOPH had received reports of 31,109 confirmed new infections, 147 hospital admissions and 20 deaths. The number of cases has increased by 5.7 percent within a week. Hospital admissions increased by 69.4 percent compared to the previous week.
There are currently a total of 678 people in intensive care in the hospitals. The utilization of the intensive care units is currently 75.50 percent. 30.20 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid 19 patients.
In the past two weeks, 3467.38 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections were reported per 100,000 inhabitants. The reproduction number R, which indicates how many people an infected person infects on average, was 1.37 around ten days ago.
67.66 percent of the population in Switzerland are now complete vaccinated. Another 1.63 percent received a first dose. Of the population aged 12 and over, 76.99 percent are vaccinated. In addition, 31.57 percent of the total population and 68.88 percent of those over 65 have received a so-called booster vaccination.
In the past 24 hours, the FOPH received 109,475 new corona tests reported. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 1,604,278 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with the coronavirus, 40,871 people have had to be treated in hospital and 12,085 people have died in connection with Covid-19 disease.
According to the BAG, 161,568 people who have tested positive for the coronavirus are currently in isolation. And 57,021 people who have had contact with infected people are in quarantine.
