50 Cent avoids criminal charges for throwing microphone, drilling fan in head

Rapper 50 Cent has avoided criminal charges after throwing a microphone and striking a concertgoer during a California show in August.

While the “In Da Club” hitmaker seemingly avoided the charges at this stage, the case will remain open until August 2024 and could face charges should any further incidents take place, TMZ reports.

As Page Six previously reported, the hip-hop artist — born Curtis James Jackson III — was handed several broken mics to use during his concert at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles when he couldn’t take the frustration anymore.

The rapper claimed he did not “intentionally strike” concertgoer Bryhana Monegain in the face when he angrily launched his microphone into the crowd.

Monegain — a radio host for Power 106 — filed a police report after the ordeal, and the “Candy Shop” rapper was named a criminal battery suspect.

The case was then presented as a felony to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, but was soon passed on to the LA City Attorney’s office, the outlet adds.

No criminal charges have been filed against 50 Cent since then.

Footage captured by fans showed the 48-year-old violently launch a mic into the packed crowd, subsequently striking concertgoer Monegain square in the head.

She was left with a gruesome wound, which required stitches and for her head to be wrapped in gauze.

Grisly photos also shared by the outlet at the time showed Moregain’s hands and shirt covered in blood from the open gash on her face.

“Let’s be very clear, as I told LAPD this afternoon, my client Curtis would never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone,” 50 Cent’s attorney, Scott Leemon, told Page Six in a statement that month.

“Anyone saying something different doesn’t have all the facts and is misinformed.”

The ordeal followed hot on the heels of a similar mic-throwing incident involving rapper Cardi B, who chucked her mic at an audience member for throwing liquid on her during a show in Las Vegas in July.

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper was listed as a suspect for battery after the person who was hit reported the incident to the Las Vegas Metro PD.

However, the Grammy winner clarified that she was angry at the drink-flinger for throwing the beverage right in her face.

Cardi was not charged for the incident, and the microphone she tossed at the concertgoer was auctioned off for charity.
