Detentor do título cai da Taça com estrondo em Nottingham

O Leicester, vencedor da competição na temporada passada, está fora da Taça de Inglaterra, após derrota, por 1-4, em casa do Nottingham Forest, 8.º classificado do Championship.

Com Cafu, Tobias Figueiredo e Xande Silva no banco do Forest e Ricardo Pereira no do Leicester, o conjunto de Nottingham entrou a todo o gás na partida e arrasou os foxes com três golos em 10 minutos, por Phillip Zickernagel (23’), Ben Johnson (24’) e Joe Worrall (33’). Ainda na primeira parte, Kelechi Iheanacho (40’) reduziu mas, já no segundo tempo, Djed Spence (61’) assinou o quarto do Nottingham, selando a goleada frente ao adversário do primeiro escalão.

Esta partida ficou marcada pela invasão de campo por parte de um adepto do Leicester, que, durante as comemorações do terceiro golo do Nottingham, correu para o relvado e tentou agredir os jogadores do Forest (ver notícia associada).
