Forsvarets etiske råd mener religiøse ritualer og salmer kan virke ekskluderende på minoritetskulturer i Forsvaret.

– Forsvarets tros- og livssynskorps har lenge vært i gang med å inkludere mer mangfold. Dette arbeidet vil de fortsette med, men det vil selvsagt ta litt tid, sier Kjersti Fjørtoft, filosofiprofessor ved Universitetet i Tromsø og leder i Etisk råd for forsvarssektoren (ERF).

Rådet har nylig sendt nye vurderinger til Forsvarsstaben om kristendommens rolle i Forsvaret, ifølge Nationen.

Her anbefales det blant annet at fellesseremonier ikke bør være til knyttet et enkelt trossamfunn.

ERF ber også Forsvaret om å reflektere over den symbolmakten som ligger i «ritualer, salmer, arkitektur, bilder, og lignende», og at dette kan «virke ekskluderende på minoritetskulturer/religioner».

– Forsvaret ser nå på hvordan vi skal følge opp tilrådningene fra Etisk råd, sier oberst Frank Sølvsberg, pressevakt hos Forsvaret, til Nationen.

Oslo-biskop Kari Veiteberg har ansvar for feltpresttjenesten. Hun er ikke bekymret for de endringene som eventuelt vil komme.

– Jeg tror ikke det vil bli mindre bruk for prester i Forsvaret. De 49 prestene vil fortsatt utøve prestearbeid, sjelesorg og etisk arbeid, selv om noen av seremoniene får en annen innretning.
