Townsend: I imitated Ronaldo because he's my role model

Everton’s Andros Townsend said he celebrated his goal against Manchester United like Cristiano Ronaldo because he considers the latter his role model.

(The Englishman told BT Sport after the meeting, which ended with a goal for him: “Ronaldo is my role model and my idol.”

Townsend equalized the score for his team at Old Trafford after Anthony Martial had advanced to Manchester United.

Everton rose to third place in the Premier League standings, away from the runner-up United and the leaders Liverpool.

United will host Leicester City on October 16, while Everton host West Ham United on October 17. From Monday due to the international break for the month of October.
