Woman constable gang-raped in MP’s Neemuch, 2 accused arrested

A woman police constable was allegedly gang-raped by three men in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district, who shot a video of the act and threatened to kill her.The main accused and his mother have been arrested, while three others are absconding, said Anuradha Girwal, in-charge of the women police station.According to the police, the accused, Pawan, befriended the woman constable on Facebook earlier this year and started chatting with her on WhatsApp. They soon began meeting up in real life, with Pawan — a resident of Manasa town in Neemuch — going to Indore to visit her.ALSO READ | 2 men kidnap MP woman, pour acid into her eyes for resisting rape bidPawan invited the victim to Manasa for his brother Dhirendra’s birthday. At Pawan’s house, his brothers Dhirendra and Vijay raped the woman constable, filmed a video of the act and threatened to kill her. The victim stated in her report that when Pawan came back home and she told him what had happened, he raped her too.The victim also alleged that when she complained to the accused’s mother, the older woman threatened her and warned her of dire consequences if she told anyone else about the incident. A relative of the accused also threatened to kill the victim and tried to extort money from her, she claimed.The victim then approached the women police station and submitted a written complaint detailing the incident. On the basis of this complaint, the police arrested Pawan and his mother. Dhirendra, Vijay and their uncle have also been booked in the matter.A case has been registered under sections 376, 376D, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
