The Football Association of Zambia have called of their international friendly with the India men’s national senior team after confirming that they cannot field a team to represent them on the field.
The Football Association of Zambia had on May 9 officially confirmed their participation for the match which was supposed to be played in Doha on May 25, however that will not take place as the country do not have enough players to represent them.
“We regret to inform you that our efforts to secure our professional players for the friendly against India that was scheduled for 25th May 2022 against India has proved futile. Most of the players season ending matches are close to the scheduled date making it practically impossible to join camp,” General Secretary Adrian Kashala wrote to the AIFF General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das.
“However, the Football Association of Zambia wishes to thank you for your positive response, support and we appreciate the relationship built with your Association. We look forward to engaging you in future friendly matches,” the letter added.
The Blue Tigers are currently undergoing a preparatory camp for the upcoming 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers in Kolkata, have already played a friendly so far and are scheduled to play more two more games before the qualifiers.
