The Pixel Tablet is fast approaching, with Google likely launching the tablet during its I/O 2023 keynote on May 10. In the meantime, a new leak claims to have confirmed more unknown details about the device, including the presence of a built-in privacy switch.

9to5Google has obtained new information about the Pixel Tablet, Google’s first Android tablet since it abandoned the Nexus series nearly a decade ago. For reference, Google first showcased the Pixel Tablet during last year’s I/O 2022 keynote. Most recently, an FCC listing outlined that the tablet would support UWB connectivity and the older Wi-Fi 6 standard, not Wi-Fi 6E like other recent Pixel devices.

Now,9to5Googlehas revealed that Google will complement its Tensor G2 chipset with 8 GB of RAM, as well as two undisclosed storage options. Presumably, these will be 128 GB and 256 GB, based on the Pixel 7 Pro. The website adds that Google will bundle a speaker dock with both storage options, which also charges the Pixel Tablet via the latter’s rear-mounted pogo pins.

Purportedly, Google will not include a USB Type-C charger in the box though, since the dock will serve as a charger too. Moreover,9to5Googleclaims that Google will offer the tablet in four colours, all with a ‘nanoceramic finish’ that the company described would provide a textured feel and a ‘soft matte’ look. Only beige and green editions have been seen so far;9to5Googlehas not revealed what these other two colour options are yet. Furthermore, the Pixel Tablet is said to feature a hardware switch for deactivating its cameras and microphones. Currently,9to5Googleestimates that Google will start selling the Pixel Tablet in June, with an I/O 2023 launch on May 10.
