The Xiaomi 14 series will debut later in the year. In addition to design and SoC upgrades, the next-gen flagship phones are expected to bring two new features that were sadly missing from the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro—if a new leak is anything to go by.
While Xiaomi’s next-gen flagship phones, the Xiaomi 14 series remain around half a year away from release, leaks continue to surface about the phones’ hardware credentials, with a new report now indicating improved selfie and USB performance.
For one, it appears Xiaomi will finally equip its flagship phones with 4K video recording on the selfie end. It’s been something of a talking point until now, with even the Xiaomi 13 Ultra—Xiaomi’s latest and greatest—being capped at 1080p selfie video recording. That will change with the Xiaomi 14 series, it appears. Reportedly, improved selfie video will come alongside upgraded selfie photo performance, with the Xiaomi 13 series widely being regarded as offering worse selfie stills than the competition.
Xiaomi already introduced the 13 Ultra with USB 3.2 a few months ago, but both the vanilla Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro only feature the old USB 2.0 protocol. Supposedly, those two devices will be the last Xiaomi flagships to sport USB 2.0, with the next-gen models expected to be equipped with USB 3.2, just like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
