Major travel boost for Irish holidaymakers as American budget airline to fly from Dublin to popular US destinations

It has already started selling flights scheduled for next spring and summer

AMERICAN budget airline JetBlue is to begin daily services from Dublin to New York and Boston from March 2024.

The US airline will fly non-stop between Dublin Airport and New York’s JFK Airport from March 13 next year, with a daily schedule set through to the end of September.

Its non-stop service between Dublin Airport and Boston Logan International will also begin on 13th March 2024, with its daily schedule also running to the end of September.

JetBlue plans to use Airbus A321neo aircraft on the routes, with 16 ‘Mint’ business class seats, and 144 ‘Core’ economy seats.

The company hopes to take advantage of strong demand for international travel, which has grown more quickly than domestic travel this year.

And it has already started selling flights scheduled for next spring and summer between the United States and Dublin.

The New York-based airline currently flies to London, Paris and Amsterdam, far fewer transatlantic destinations than offered by its bigger US rivals.

JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes said: “Dublin is an exciting new destination for JetBlue, building on a long history and tradition of friendship and connectivity between the United States and Ireland.

“The success of our transatlantic service proves customers don’t have to choose between low fares and great service and can experience both with JetBlue.

“We have long recognised the strategic importance of Ireland and its strong value proposition as an attractive country to visit and do business in.

“We realise value and choice is just as important in the Irish market as in the U.S. and are pleased to introduce our award-winning product to Irish customers.”

JetBlue also announced a new service between Edinburgh and New York, which will get underway in May of next year.

It also plans to begin a Boston to Paris service in April 2024.

JOB DRIVE CLOSING

Meanwhile, Aer Lingus has issued a major warning to those interested in applying for their cabin crew as their recruitment drive closes soon.

The popular airline is hiring over 200 cabin crew member who will work across their expanding network of flights within Europe and North America.

To apply for the role, applicants must first pass an online assessment, after this they will then be brought in for “Assessment Days” during the months of November and December.

Successful candidates will then immediately begin their training on January 8 at the Aer Lingus training academy located in Dublin Airport.
