AFM: Concourse Sets Action Thriller ‘Cabo’ From ‘American History X’ Writer David McKenna, ‘Eraser: Reborn’ Director John Pogue (Exclusive)

Concourse Media has boarded action thriller Cabo from writer David McKenna (American History X, Blow, SWAT), with John Pogue (Eraser: Reborn) now attached to direct. Casting is currently underway and production is set to start mid mid-2024.

The story follows a seemingly ordinary deckhand on a sportfishing boat in Cabo San Lucas who embarks on a mission to rescue his kidnapped nieces from a drug cartel, revealing his true self as he battles the cartel on their own turf.

Concourse Media, run by founder and CEO Matthew Shreder, is financing the picture and will produce alongside Todd Berger (Out Come the Wolves, The Last Victim) and December Films.

“I’m honored to be working alongside these extremely talented creative forces. Cabo is an extraordinary thrill ride that is going to blow people away and I look forward to helping bring the project to fruition,” said Shreder.

“Like his past work, David McKenna’s Cabo is character-rich, authentic and thrilling,” said Pogue, who recently directed Eraser: Reborn for HBO/Max and whose other directing credits include Lionsgate’s The Quiet Ones, starring Sam Claflin, Jared Harris and Olivia Cooke, Blood Brother and the third installment of the Deep Blue Sea franchise. “I’m excited to be part of the Cabo journey, which will take audiences on an insane mission deep into Baja California with a very unexpected hero, proving that we can be much more resourceful than we realize.”

Concourse Media’s slate also includes the recently completed action thriller Chief of Station starring Aaron Eckhart and Olga Kurylenko and the upcoming Sovereign starring Nick Offerman and Dennis Quaid. Previous Concourse titles include Percy Vs Goliath, starring Christopher Walken, Semper Fi, starring Jai Courtney, and The Little Hours, starring Aubrey Plaza, Alison Brie and John C. Reilly.

Pogue is represented by Gersh and The Cartel, and McKenna is represented by IAG and Mark Stankevich-Stankevich Law.
