Governor Adds N10,000 Monthly Stipend to NYSC Members’ Salary In His State

National Youth Service Corps members in Adamawa State will get an additional monthly pay of N10,000 from January next year.

This followed a new order by the Governor of the State, Ahmadu Fintiri.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced the gesture Tuesday, during the 2023 swearing-in ceremony of members of the Batch C Stream 2 deployment, comprising 1,340 corps members posted to the state.

The governor said the measure is part of the magnanimity of his administration to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

The fresh N10,000 monthly offer will be in addition to what the youth corps members get from the Federal Government through the scheme, as well as the N20,000 service-long bonus that the state government currently gives to every youth corps member upon completing the service year.

Also, at the Batch C Stream Two swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, Governor Fintiri donated 50 bags of rice, 10 bulls and 10 jerricans of cooking oil to augment the feeding requirements of the orientation camp for the newly deployed corps members.

“My dear compatriots, congratulations on your successful graduation from your respective institutions of learning which qualified you for mobilization into this noble scheme,” the governor said, urging them to see their deployment and orientation camping as an opportunity to discover their talents.

“Grab this golden opportunity with both hands,” he said.

Speaking earlier, the state Commissioner of Youths and Sports who doubles as the State Chairman NYSC Governing Board, Wali Yakubu encouraged the corps members to choose wisely from the various skill sets offered by the scheme, participate fully in all training sessions, and strive to be job creators in the end.
