Noel Gallagher admits Mohamed Salah is ‘so likeable’ after wonder goal against Manchester City, and has big praise for Phil Foden

Rock ‘n’ roll star Noel Gallagher has admitted he can’t help but admire Mohamed Salah – even after the Liverpool forward scored a wonder goal against his beloved Manchester City.

City picked up a well-earned point at Anfield, twice coming back from a goal down to take a 2-2 draw after dominating a goalless first half.

It was yet another thrilling clash between the title contenders, but the highlight of the match was undoubtedly a moment of magic from Liverpool’s Salah.

Stuck in a bundle of sky blue, the Egyptian found a way out with a piece of skill that left Bernardo Silva on the floor as he burst into the box with three players in his wake.

Squaring up against Aymeric Laporte, Salah then faked to line up a shot on his left foot, before cutting back onto his weaker right and firing an unstoppable strike past Ederson.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Gallagher was not only in admiration of the strike, but also Salah’s personality post-match.

“Mo Salah’s goal was just far out,” he said. “Do you know what the most awful thing about that guy is? He’s so likeable.

“When you see him afterwards I just want to give him a little cuddle, whereas you really want him to be like Rooney or something.”

Salah won FIFA’s Puskas Award in 2018 with a stunning goal against Everton, but many would argue his solo effort against City was even more impressive.

But Liverpool’s number 11 played it down post match, more disappointed that it wasn’t the goal that won the game.

“I have to watch it to see, I do remember it a bit,” Salah said. “I think it would be more special if it won the game, but it is what it is, this is the result, I think it’s a good goal but nothing much to say.”

Gallagher is also in love with City’s Foden who put in one of his best ever performances at Anfield

Salah wasn’t the only stand-out player during the game though, with City’s 21-year-old Phil Foden pushing him hard with an incredible display that featured a pin-point equaliser.

Gallagher was blown away by Foden, and is already getting excited about what the future will bring for the academy graduate.

“I thought we were great and thought Phil Foden was just… I mean that guy in five years from now is going to be something else.”
