Who are the leaders of the opposition in Republika Srpska? Jelena, Vukan and Drasko overshadowed the party leaders at the protests

Listen to the news via audio file

After a long time, a popular opposition protest took place in Banja Luka. The biggest support was not given to the party leaders, but to the MPs Jelena Trivić, Nebojša Vukanović and the mayor of Banja Luka Draško Stanivuković.

Does this support mean

PDP President Branislav Borenović said that the protests were an indication that the people were fed up with the government, which has had no political idea for fifteen years, except for the idea that, as he says, he “lies and steals”, writes Srpskainfo.

And some representatives of the opposition seemed to have no idea, so during the protest, some repeated worn-out phrases, while others tried to read meaningful speeches from the paper.

Some tried to leave a stronger impression with heated rhetoric. And that is their way and right, but Vukan, Draško and Jelena still got the most sympathy.

In addition to the fact that they are bound by common attitudes and desires, and that is to overthrow the regime, they are also bound by their speeches, which were spontaneous, dynamic and which the masses liked.

Opposition protests in Banja Luka

While some received lukewarm applause, this trio showed that they enjoy the greatest support of the people. And that support speaks in favor of the thesis that political scientist Darko Kuzmanović advocates, and that is that the people are looking for winners, new and uncompromised politicians.

Kuzmanović says that the citizens have shown that they want change and the only question is whether the opposition will want and be able to change and bring you?

– The citizens of Srpska have a lot of passers-by and politicians who have existed on the public scene for several decades and who do not they can keep up with modern trends and the needs of society, because they have nothing new to offer. People, especially young people, are looking for new ideas, new and uncompromised people who have something to offer – says Kuzmanović for Srpskainfo.

He points out that young people do not see the difference between politicians in power and certain oppositionists who have been running through different levels of government for years and whose primary goal is only functions.

Opposition leaders protest in Banja Luka

– That is the reason why Vukanović, Trivić, Stanivuković, followed by Milan Miličević, received the biggest applause from the protesters. None of them has been compromised – Kuzmanović thinks.

None of the mentioned participants, adds Kuzmanović, has media outbursts, insults, corruption scandals, criminal acts or any other problems with the law behind them, and the only weapons they rely on are the truth and concrete ideas and activities that the people recognize.

– Also, each of them is special in its own way which supports the thesis that citizens want newspapers . If the opposition offers voters old and worn-out politicians again, they will surely lose the elections. New, energetic and winning faces are the only recipe for success. If the opposition is not able to understand that and offer such candidates, in that case it does not deserve to ever come to power – Kuzmanović is clear.

University professor and sociologist Drago Vuković points out that at the rally in Banja Luka, the citizens recognized one true oppositionist – Nebojsa Vukanovic.

– They supported him, because they recognized in him a real fight for change, that he was not a criminal, tycoon, rich man. There is also Jelena Trivić, who is another profile of politicians. We have some new politicians on the scene, political leaders, sometimes I call them reality politicians, politicians of a completely different caliber and profile, but serious social changes cannot be brought about by individuals – says Vukovic for Srpskainfo.

Opposition protests in Banja Luka

They can’t do it alone presents political changes, reiterates and adds that leaders who were more in power than in the opposition cannot be the bearers of change.

– Individuals such as Stanivuković, Trivićeva and Vukanović , opposition parties will not support, because they are too sticking out of a peaceful situation in the opposition and will have problems when it comes time to run. The three of them, as future bearers of change, will do better as independent candidates, than in front of the opposition, due to the general situation in which the opposition bloc is – concludes Vukovic.

The most important feature

Vukovic says that newly formed politicians and passers-by cannot be leaders of the opposition.

– For example, Mirko Šarović, who is the leader of one of the once most powerful SDS parties, became a spokesman who went out to read the demands of the protest. There is a problem with the opposition, the idea of the program and its leaders. We have a pale opposition, and the most important characteristic of any democratic society is that it has a strong opposition – says Vukovic.
