Magomedmurad Gajiev won the gold medal at the Oslo 2021 World Championships in Freestyle Wrestling up to seventy kilograms!

In the final the coach’s charge Yusupa Abdusalamova defeated Ernazar Akmataljew 2: 1. After the first, three minutes long, the player from Kyrgyzstan was in the lead. The result of 2: 1 was held to the end.

Gadjiev extended his impressive streak of winning medals at international events in all seasons in which he represented Poland. He started with the silver of the 2015 European Games. He stood on the podium of all the European Championships held in 2016-2020. In 2017, he won silver at the Senior World Championships . In turn during the 2019 world championship he took third place .

For Gajiyev, this is the second gold of the world championship. In 2008, he won this event among juniors as a Russian.

In the capital of Norway, AKS Piotrków Trybunalski wrestler appeared in the category absent at the 2020 Olympics – up to seventy kilograms. In Japan he competed in the competition up to 65 kg.

Born in 1988, the player became the first Polish representative to win the gold medal at the World Senior Freestyle Championships. In the 21st century, only Dariusz Jabłoński stood on the highest step of the World Cup wrestling podium – in the classic style in 2003. On the other hand, Edyta Witkowska triumphed among women in 2001.

For the first time, the Pole won the World Cup in the free style in 1971. Then Paweł Kurczewski was second. The second place was also taken by: Władysław Stecyk (1977), Marian Skubacz (1981), Adam Sandurski (1982 and 1983), as well as Marek Garmulewicz (1998).

On Wednesday, the bronze medal duel will present Katarzyna Krawczyk . In the 1/8 final, the player of the Cement-Gryf Chełm club turned out to be better than Amma Fearnside. In turn, in the quarter-finals, Emma Malgren suffered a defeat in the clash with a Pole. Akari Fujinami advanced to the finals.
